Rotary Club of Madras Chenna Patna

The Rotary Club of Madras Chenna Patna was chartered in 1993 under the stewardship of Rtn. L. Hemachandrudu, our Founding President. The Club's mantra has always been one of seamless camaraderie and selfless service — and it has held since the first day. We celebrated our 33rd Charternite in May 2026 and installed our 34th President and Board in July 2026.

Across those years the Club has done yeoman service in child health and education for the underprivileged, community building and women's empowerment.

Where and when we meet

Hotel Savera, Radhakrishnan Salai (Cathedral Road), Mylapore, Chennai 600004

Every Saturday at 7:00 PM

What We Do

Our service work is anchored to four of Rotary International's areas of focus.

Basic Education and Literacy

School and college fee sponsorship, and classroom infrastructure for corporation schools.

Community Economic Development

Livelihood assets and micro-loans for families working their way up.

Disease Prevention and Treatment

Medical camps, blood donation drives, hearing aid distribution and polio eradication.

Maternal and Child Health

Nutrition and infant care support for mothers and children.

Signature Projects

Operation Day Break

Our flagship education initiative, supporting deserving students from economically weaker families through school and college fees. In 2025-26 this extended to 20 students from the fishermen community and a full college fee sponsorship.

Pink Auto

A district initiative the Club backs, placing an auto-rickshaw in the hands of a woman so she can earn independently.

Rotary Table Tennis League

Now in its fifth season — alongside the National Para Table Tennis Ranking Tournament, which the Club hosted for the third time in January 2026.

Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW), free medical camps run jointly with neighbouring clubs, food and dignity support at MITHRA care centre and Mercy Home, and a Polio Awareness Campaign round out a year of sixteen community projects.

Club Life

Service is only half of it. Family fellowships, potlucks, temple visits, sailing at the Royal Madras Yacht Club, Onam and Diwali celebrations, Women's Day lunches, a Tamil pattimandram, and speaker meetings on everything from cyber fraud to the joy of living — thirty-seven such gatherings in 2025-26 alone. Our Anns and Annettes are as much a part of the Club as our Rotarians.

The Four-Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:
1

Is it the TRUTH?

2

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
